Holiday-Themed “it’s a small world”

it's a small world

“it’s a small world” is among the few Disneyland attractions that receives a holiday-themed makeover during the last two months of the year. Instead of the usual “it’s a small world” tune, the animatronic dolls sing “Jingle Bells” and “Deck the Halls.”

Riders sit in a boat that glides over water as they are transported into different countries. Holiday decorations and snow are added to each set to fit the theme. Some areas may also have dolls singing “Jingle Bells” in different languages.

A few beloved Disney characters are hidden in various areas, depending on the countries that the characters reside in. So keep an eye out as you approach each set- you may be able to find Simba, Woody or Mulan!

As the boats approach the last room, riders discover a brightly lit set full of dolls from the individual countries. The dolls all band together to express world peace while singing in harmony. It’s is a beautiful sight to witness.

If you don’t have the patience to wait in line for the ride, then I still recommend making your way over to witness the light show outside “it’s a small world” at night.

Every 15 minutes, the lights surrounding the area turn off and images are projected onto the entire attraction’s building. Holiday music blasts from the speakers as bright colors and images crawl throughout the surface of the building. It is a sight worth seeing.

“it’s a small world” is located in the Fantasyland area. The holiday-themed overlay will be available until January 22, 2017, so make sure to stop by before it’s too late!
